At the Baraka Little Library, a welcoming space for refugees and foreigners, the Youth Sustainability Alliance (YSA) has been privileged to visit multiple times, fostering a connection built on community, care, and support.
One of our most impactful initiatives has been rescuing unsold food from local cafes at closing time. Instead of allowing perfectly good meals to go to waste, we’ve partnered with these businesses to transform surplus food into nourishment for those who need it most. Every visit to Baraka Library is a chance to not only provide food but also to share conversations, warmth, and a sense of belonging.
This initiative is more than just about sustainability—it’s about compassion in action. By redistributing food that would have otherwise been discarded, we’re reinforcing our commitment to both environmental and social responsibility.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this incredible space and will continue working to ensure that no meal goes to waste. Thank you to the local cafes that have made this possible, and to the Baraka Library community for welcoming us with open arms!
